Dabrowski’s Lost Children

You mattered before anyone told you that you didn't

I write for those who have come to believe they are broken. This is the dismantling of that identity.

The Unknowable Truth That Set Me Free

This story isn’t about illness, or even healing in the way we think of it. It’s about what happens when the fear-based mind loses control. When separation and source become coherent, and oneness collapses into infinity. When the veil is lifted, and the self, the true self, comes out from hiding. It’s about unconditional love and value, about Michael, about the sacred marriage between what we were taught to hate and what we always were beneath it.

Michael unconditionally loved his fucked up mother, because that’s what children do. This was something I was unable to give to my children because it was something I had been separated from a long time ago. But when he died, I held on to it for dear life like the boogie board he and I used to ride in the ocean.

On July 7th, 2018, while floating on a raft and meditating with the healing light I had seen the night Michael died, something extraordinary happened. The left side of my vision pulled back, and the veil lifted. What was revealed was an energy of liquid-gold light, alive, moving, electromagnetic. A feeling of unconditional love so vast and complete it defies language. I experienced the truth as a living frequency.

And what I came to understand was this. “It is not because of you, but because of your parents, you have come to believe certain things about yourself. You have always been loved and perfect as you are.” Then one word heard as if spoken, “Opposites,” rising from my solar plexus. This irrefutable Truth lay in complete contradiction to everything I had ever come to believe about myself and my life. I believe this is our birthright

And when I came back into the world, back into my body, it was like waking from a lifelong storm. It felt as if I had lived in the center of a hurricane my whole life and never known it, until someone shut off the wind.

There was one boy in the pool, alone, with a foam noodle, repeating a phrase over and over again. “Leaky pipe, leaky pipe.” He was moving back and forth, back and forth. My mind was blown open, and I knew, instinctively, that this was no coincidence. I found his mother on the other side of the pool, and she told me he was autistic. She said, “We’re teaching him to make the right connections.” That moment felt prophetic. That phrase, making the right connections, struck me as the perfect metaphor for what had just occurred in me. Something ancient and tangled had come undone. Something else was beginning to align.

Afterward, something rocketed, like I had plugged myself into the universe’s light socket. I began reading obsessively, as if guided by something greater. It was then that I discovered Bill Wilson, cofounder of Alcoholics Anonymous, had an almost identical revelation. In 1957, through LSD therapy sessions facilitated at the VA with his therapist Betty Eisner, Wilson came to understand that the deep feeling of being unloved wasn’t rooted in who he was, but in what he had inherited from his parents. Eisner observed that Wilson feared the depressive part of him might kill others before they could kill him. At the heart of it, Wilson admitted, he did not trust himself. He too heard the word “opposites.” And I knew then, I wasn’t alone in this. This message has always been trying to reach us. It’s for the ones who have walked through fire and believed they were the ashes. It’s not just my story. It’s the story of those the world calls the worst, when in truth, they are the most wounded, and often the most gifted.

I was drawn to certain books. One of the most profound of these was Kazimierz Dabrowski’s Theory of Positive Disintegration. His work changed everything. In a time when most saw the anxious, the sensitive, the psychoneurotic as disordered, Dabrowski saw evolutionary potential. He believed that breakdown could be a breakthrough, that disintegration was part of the sacred path toward becoming fully human. When I read the word “intense,” I recognized myself immediately. Dabrowski didn’t pathologize people like me. He saw us through the lens of empathy and compassion, where others judged and shamed. Dabrowski is my hero. I love this man. And in deep respect to his legacy, I now understand this journey I’m on, and this message, as part of what he began. This website, this calling, is for what I’ve come to think of as Dabrowski’s lost children.

I’d been sober and in recovery for decades. This happened to me in 2018, and what followed has been a huge undoing of myself. When I went back to the meetings, I intuitively knew there was nothing there for me anymore. I never went back. These people are still my people, I love them, but I knew the answer wasn’t there. Abstinence is no longer necessary, because the compulsion that overrides all, the desperate need to blot myself out to escape the unbearable pain borne of Fear Separation and No Value, has dissolved, because I received a gift and have fought hard to regain my intrinsic value that had been beaten underground. With the lie gone, so is the disease. Something else had begun. A deeper unraveling. I had to go out solo to find another way. What followed was a dismantling, a pulling apart of my mind, a surrender to the authentic disintegration of the socially constructed identity. What emerged was a rebirth of value, the authentic self. To see it.To move past the fears that held me and move towards what brings me peace and joy away from pain and suffocation. My natural navigation system back on line. Trusting my self and my feelings To regain agency and epistemic trust.

In my experience, it is the application of what I am introducing as the M-factor, unconditional love and acceptance, as a multiplying factor that you multiply against yourself, breath by breath. This is what actually brings you back into balance. It is not difficult when you’re at your best, but it can be a challenge the other ninety-five percent of the time.

This isn’t a theory. It’s not a doctrine. It’s a lived experience that burned through everything I believed, until only the real was left. The Hero’s Gamos. The inner marriage. The end of duality. Not as a concept, but as a reversal, of exile, of shame, of the belief in unworthiness.

So this is the work. The story. The call. Not to fix yourself, but to see that you were never broken. To remember who you are. To let the false self fall away and to meet your soul in the place it never left.

This is for the ones who’ve been told they’re too much, too wrong, too lost. This is for the ones in the shadows.

Because the light was always inside them.

This is the point. To make light from darkness. That’s what this is about. The hardest truths, the heaviest shadows, transmuted into the light we carry forward. This is the alchemy of the soul.

And now it’s time to rise.

Because this is about trusting yourself, your authentic self, the one I never even knew existed. I had no idea that the only thing in operation had been a default operating system of my fear based mind, built to survive, one that had been fed false information, built on foundational lies. To pull it back in this life is to see clearly. To put the mind where it belongs, not as the source of truth, but as its interpreter. And to trust instead in yourself and nature, which has been here for billions of years and carries the truth we forgot.
