We were never broken
We were never selfish
We were never sick
We were born sensitive
Gifted
Intense
What the world called dysfunction was overexcitability
The kind that sees deeper
Feels harder
Thinks endlessly
Imagines wildly
Loves without limits
We had too much emotion
Too much thought
Too much empathy
Too much energy
Too much soul for a world that did not know how to hold it
So they gave us labels
Tried to quiet the fire
Called it disorder because they could not understand the design
But the fire was not the problem
It was the path
We are Dabrowski’s lost children
The ones who learned to live without oxygen
The ones who believed the lie
The ones who are coming back now
Not to be fixed
But to remember who we are
And then there was Dabrowski
Kazimierz Dabrowski did not look at us like problems to be solved
He looked at us through empathy
Through compassion
Through a mind forged in his own suffering
He did not study us from a distance
He knew what it meant to fall apart
Not because you were sick
But because you were becoming
Dabrowski is my hero
He did not pathologize our intensity
He honored it
He said our disintegration was not a breakdown
It was a breakthrough
This is for the ones he saw
The ones still underwater
Still mislabeled
Still searching for what they already are
You are not broken
You are not selfish
You are not too much
You are one of us
